Two male residents of Maskwacis have now been charged with the second degree murder of an elderly Ponoka man earlier this year.
On Feb. 24, 2026, Ponoka RCMP located a deceased 92-year-old male outside his residence.
The circumstances of the death were deemed suspicious and an autopsy two days later confirmed the manner of death was a homicide.
RCMP Major Crimes then took over the investigation.
At the time, RCMP was requesting dash cam video between the hours of 9 p.m. on Feb. 23 and 3 a.m. on Feb 24, around Bear Hills Casino and Highway 2A from Highway 611, traveling south into Ponoka.
On Oct. 5, 2026, RCMP released that as a result of extensive investigation, Timothy Bull, 48, and Syran Bull, 19, both residents of Maskwacis, were arrested and charged.
After a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Syran was remanded to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Ponoka on Oct. 6, 2026. Timothy was remanded to appear in Albert Court of Justice in Ponoka on Oct. 16, 2026.
