BC Hydro is scrambling to restore power to more than 60,000 Fraser Valley homes on Monday afternoon after a major equipment failure caused widespread outages.
The incident is the result of a substation fault, according to BC Hydro. However, the specifics of the issue had not yet been determined as of 12:45 p.m.
The power interruption occurred at approximately 12:05 p.m., with a total of 60,525 homes being affected across Abbotsford, Chilliwack, and Kent.
BC Hydro reported that crews were already on site and working to determine the cause and get power restored to the Fraser Valley properties.
