Modern fingerstyle guitar prodigy Alex Misko makes his way down Vancouver Island in a series of concerts promising jaw-dropping technique, emotional depth, and genre-defying style.
Fusing classical precision with elements of jazz, rock, and modern fingerstyle, Misko’s performances are hailed as technically astonishing and deeply moving.
He began playing at the age of 12. Now in his 20s, a German-based multigenre guitar maestro with eight album projects under his belt, plus global tours.
After discovering it online, he embarked on a self-taught journey to master modern fingerstyle guitar. In 2015, while still in high school, his original piece Guitar + Pen Tapping Song went viral, surpassing 1,000,000 views and marking his first major online breakthrough.
In 2016, his video cover of Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean received more than 30,000,000 views on Facebook, firmly establishing his presence on the international guitar scene. The following year, his rendition of George Michael’s “Careless Whisper” gained more than 80,000,000 views across Facebook and YouTube within a single month. Since then, Misko’s YouTube channel has experienced exponential growth, now exceeding 1 million subscribers.
Named Guitarist of the Year in 2018 by UK magazine MusicRadar, the next winter he released his third solo album, Roundtrip, recognized for its innovative sound and mature compositions and considered a pinnacle of his work at that time.
Earlier this year, Misko released Final Boss and is bringing that music to audiences across New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and Canada.
Misko performs in Duncan Oct. 7 at the Khowutzun Heritage Centre, Courtenay’s Regier Theatre on Oct. 8, Nanaimo on Oct. 9 at St. Andrews United Church and Victoria on Oct. 10 in the Alix Goolden Hall.
