Kalamoir Regional Park in West Kelowna was impacted by a wildfire in June, closing the northern section.

Due to the damage, the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) is working to restore park conditions over a three-week period.

“Since the wildfire, crews have been working methodically to assess conditions, address safety concerns and restore the park,” said Tracy Draper, RDCO director of parks services. “We know residents are eager to return to all areas of Kalamoir Regional Park, and every stage of this work helps move us closer to a full reopening. Our priority is ensuring the park is safe for visitors when that day comes.”

Recovery work started Oct. 5 to remove loose and unstable rocks and trees.

People can still access the southern area of the park, including Sunnyside Trail and Bowser Beach, from the main entrance at Collens Hill Road.

Park visitors are asked to obey all signage and barriers.

The regional district anticipates more of the park to open through the fall.
