No criminality: Woman’s body found 10 years after disappearance near Salmon Arm

The remains of a woman missing for more than 10 years have been found.
The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP announced Monday that Deanna Wertz was located on Sept. 13 in a vast wooded area in the 2000 block of Yankee Flats Road in Salmon Arm.
Civilian dog trainers were working in the area when human remains were found around 12:30 p.m.
The remains were removed and positively identified as those of missing person, Deanna Mildred Wertz.
Wertz was originally reported missing to police in the Yankee Flats area on July 22, 2016.
Criminality is not suspected in her death.
“This investigation has remained active for many years, and we recognize how difficult this has been for her family and those who knew and loved her,” said Const. Chris Terleski, RCMP media relations officer. “While this is not the outcome anyone had hoped for, we hope that finding Deanna brings some measure of closure and we extend our sincerest condolences to her family.”
Out of respect for the family, no additional details will be released.
