Pedestrian killed in collision on Highway 3 in Hope

A pedestrian was killed after a collision involving a Ford pickup truck on Highway 3 in Hope on Wednesday night (Sept. 23).
According to a statement from Hope RCMP, police were called to the collision at approximately 8:38 p.m., minutes after a separate report of a pedestrian walking in the slow lane along Highway 5.
Upon the arrival of police, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with RCMP, per the statement. Police say alcohol isn’t believed to have factored into the collision.
The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) and BC Emergency Health Services attended the crash as well.
According to Drive BC, the crash occurred before the Coquihalla Highway junction on Highway 3 and closed the highway for several hours before it reopened.
RCMP say an investigation remains ongoing.
