James Miller will have to wait longer for a decision in the first of two trials for sexual offences.<\/p>\n<p>Miller appeared via video in Sarnia Court on Sept. 14 to hear from Justice Howie, who stated that he was not yet prepared to render a verdict and put the case over for a decision at a later, unspecified date.<\/p>\n<p>READ MORE: First historic sex crime trial wraps up for Penticton councillor as another looms<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad mobile-ad-contain count10\"><!-- med-rect-300x250-1 --><\/p>\n<div class=\"opscoad-med-rect-300x250-1-INSTORY\" data-unit=\"web\/todayinbc.com\/med-rect-300x250-1\/news\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin: 1rem 0 2rem 0\">\n<div class=\"marfeel-inline-recommender-first\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Miller is charged with multiple counts of sexual interference of a minor dating back to the 90s, while he was a coach of the Sarnia Mini-Colts basketball team in the Ontario community, with three complainants split between two trials. <\/p>\n<p>Miller has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges against him.<\/p>\n<p>The first trial involved a single complainant, who, when he took the stand, spoke to three alleged incidents where Miller took advantage of him. <\/p>\n<div class=\"instory_widget\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"ad mobile-ad-contain\"><!-- med-rect-300x250-2 --><\/p>\n<div class=\"opscoad-med-rect-300x250-2-INSTORY\" data-unit=\"web\/todayinbc.com\/med-rect-300x250-2\/news\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instory_widget\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"ad mobile-ad-contain\"><!-- REMOVED AD --><\/div>\n<p>A second trial, before a different Justice, is scheduled for a decision on Sept. 18. <\/p>\n<p>That trial involves two other complainants, with a separate set of charges. <\/p>\n<p>Miller, who was placed on leave from city council after being arrested in August of 2024, has remained on paid leave.
