Josie Osborne, the incumbent MLA for Mid Island-Pacific Rim, has announced she is aiming to retain her seat in October.
Osborne was first elected as MLA in 2020 and has since served as the province’s Minister of Energy, Mines, and Low Carbon Innovation, the Minister of Health, and (currently) Minister of Finance at various points.
Prior to her election as MLA, Osborne worked as a fisheries biologist for the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council, led an environmental education non-profit, and was Tofino’s mayor for just short of eight years.
“At a time when Donald Trump is threatening our economy and our way of life, people in Mid Island-Pacific Rim are counting on us to keep strengthening healthcare, bringing rents down and standing up for B.C.,” said Osborne. “We’ve made real progress, connecting more than one million people to primary care since 2018, welcoming more doctors and nurses from the U.S., and building new hospitals and cancer centres. We won’t stop fighting for people across B.C.”
