Fists will be flying in Salmon Arm on Oct. 10 as athletes from clubs across B.C. and Alberta duke it out at Whizbang Boxing’s Interior Series #4.

The Interior series was created in 2024 to provide amateur boxers from across the province — particularly clubs in the Interior — to compete, gain experience and develop within the sport.

“Amateur athletes need opportunities to compete in order to develop,” Whizbang coach Shawn Desautels said in a release. “These events give boxers the chance to put the skills they’ve been working on in the gym into practice, while competing in a safe, regulated environment.”

Whizbang has continued to grow its competitive program, while staying focused on technical development, sportsmanship, and opportunities for all ages and experience levels.

With that in mind, the event will feature a card full of sanctioned amateur boxing bouts, with athletes representing clubs from Salmon Arm and communities across B.C. and Alberta.

Whizbang noted that hosting an event of this size also requires support from the community, which they’re very grateful to have.

“We’re incredibly fortunate to have businesses and community members who continue to support amateur sport in Salmon Arm,” event organizer and gym co-owner Shelly Desautels said. “Events like this simply wouldn’t happen without that support.”

The Interior Series #4 will take place in Song Sparrow Hall Saturday, Oct. 10, with the doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the bouts beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are $35 in advance at whizbangboxing.com/events, or $40 at the door.
