Central Alberta Chamber Orchestra will welcome professional musician Ian Warwick — known as the face of Sunnybrook Farm Museum — to the stage on Sept. 25 and 26.
The multi-instrumentalist, who holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music, has performed with world-class bands and orchestras across Canada. With a focus on the saxophone and vocals, Warwick also plays clarinet and flute, as well as being an active choral singer.
“Music has always been a really important part of my life,” said Warwick, who will be a featured performer with the Central Alberta Chamber Orchestra (CACO) during its concert, The Joy of Circuses & Feats of Daring Do.
He will perform Paule Maurice’s Tableaux de Provence, a colourful and challenging work that showcases the expressive possibilities of the saxophone alongside a full orchestra. The four-movement suite takes its inspiration from the sights, sounds and character of Provence in southern France.
“I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to perform with so many wonderful musicians over the years. Being able to make music with the Central Alberta Chamber Orchestra and share this beautiful piece with our local audience is something I’m really looking forward to,” Warwick said.
Warwick is considered a valued member the CACO, an orchestra made up of professional musicians who live and work throughout central Alberta.
“Ian represents the incredible depth of musical talent we have right here in central Alberta. He is an exceptional musician and a wonderful contributor to our community. We are delighted to feature him in this concert,” said CACO music director James Bicigo.
Performances of The Joy of Circuses & Feats of Daring Do will be held on Sept. 25, 7 p.m., at Gaetz Memorial United Church in Red Deer, and Sept. 26, 2 p.m., at St. Andrew’s United Church in Lacombe.
Tickets are $30 each for adults, $20 for seniors, and $10 for students. Admission is free for children age 12 and younger.
Tickets are available through www.showpass.com or at the door.
