Red Deer RCMP are investigating an attempted abduction after a female child was approached by a male suspect in a vehicle in the Johnstone neighbourhood on Oct. 17.

Police said the incident happened in a residential park area, adjacent to the green space between Jewel Street and Johnstone Drive at about 12 p.m.

It was reported that when the male told the girl to get into the vehicle, she yelled and he sped away.

The suspect was described as about 40 years old, with a medium complexion, a round face with a pointed chin, and yellow teeth. He wore a black hoodie.

He was in a grey four-door 4Runner, or similar model SUV, with running boards, and probably an Alberta licence plate.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of this male and/or vehicle, is asked to contact Red Deer RCMP at 403-406-2300. Anyone with video or observed a similar vehicle in the area between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., is also asked to contact Red Deer RCMP.
