Art, inclusion and individual expression will share the walls at VISAC Gallery this month as the Trail Association for Community Living (TACL) showcase returns.

The Inclusion Canvas: The Annual TACL Showcase opens Thursday, Oct. 15 and runs through Nov. 12, featuring artwork created by adults with developmental disabilities.

Presented under the theme Every Voice, Every Artist, the exhibition is intended to give TACL participants a public platform to share their creativity and individual perspectives with family, friends and the wider community.

VISAC says the annual showcase is also about creating a space where the artists and their work are seen, valued and celebrated.

“The Inclusion Canvas transforms the gallery into a shared space of true belonging,” VISAC said in announcing the exhibition.

“By highlighting the distinct creative activities of TACL participants, the exhibition gives their work the dignity, visibility, and celebration it deserves.”

The gallery will mark the opening with an evening reception on Thursday, Oct. 15 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The public is invited to meet and connect with the artists, view their work and take part in an interactive portrait wall.

Light refreshments will also be served.

Admission is by donation and everyone is welcome.

TACL provides a range of services and supports for people facing significant barriers in the Greater Trail area, including community living, employment, housing and community inclusion programs.

The association received a three-year accreditation from CARF International earlier this year recognizing the quality of eight of its programs and services.

TACL traces its roots to the early 1950s, when local families and volunteers worked to establish education and support closer to home for children with disabilities.

The organization will mark 60 years of incorporation in 2027.
