Trail retiree golfers wind up season at Birchbank

The Birchbank Retirees ended their season in dramatic fashion at their wind-up tournament on Thursday, Sept. 17.
A total of 40 retiree golfers teed off at the par-72 Birchbank Golf Course in Trail.
Both Brad Harding and David Panton shot a 5-over 77 through 18 holes to lead all golfers. The duo played an extra hole and when the final putt dropped, Harding was awarded the title in a sudden death playoff.
Brian Austin won low net with a 69, his first title victory.
The top three among Low Net Winners in the ‘A’ Flight were Rick Brown who fired a 75, Bob Elliott 76, and Don Whitford 77.
In the ‘B’ Flight all three players finished with a 77, but with the tie-break system in effect, Marlin Frederick came in first, Terry Brennan second and Richard Dewdney third.
In the ‘C’ Flight, Joseph Gallant took top prize with a 71, and another tie break put Mark Shickler in second and Steve Hope third, each with a 77.
Closest to pin prizes went to Dave Muir with a KP on hole 2, Ken Umbarger KP on 7, Steve Hope KP 14 and Wayne Weaver KP on 17.
Dave Wray earned the long putt prize on hole 9 and Martin Frederick on 18.
