Looking for a night of laughs this fall?
One of Canada’s most seasoned stand-up comedians is making a stop in Trail.
Derek Seguin will bring his high-energy comedy to the Bailey Theatre for one night only on Thursday, Nov. 5, with the show getting underway at 7:30 p.m.
Presented by Train Wreck Comedy, the performance brings a familiar voice from CBC Radio’s The Debaters to the Trail stage.
Rob Balsdon, founder of Train Wreck Comedy, said Seguin’s style is particularly well suited to a live theatre audience.
“Derek is exactly the kind of comedian you want to see in a theatre,” Balsdon said. “He doesn’t just stand there and tell jokes. He completely takes over the stage.”
Known for animated storytelling and physical comedy, Seguin draws material from relationships, family life, politics and the experience of raising three children.
His Trail appearance gives Kootenay comedy fans a chance to catch the Montreal-based comic without making a trip to a major city.
“The energy, the physical comedy and the way he tells a story are incredible,” Balsdon said.
“We’re really excited to bring a comedian of this calibre to Trail.”
Seguin has appeared on the CBC comedy program more than 40 times and is an 11-time performer at Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival.
He also won the grand prize in SiriusXM’s Canada’s Top Comic competition, while his comedy album PanDerek – 1st Wave earned a JUNO Award nomination.
