Connie Larochelle is a retired public servant, researcher, and community volunteer running as the BC Green Party candidate for Kootenay-Monashee in the 2026 BC general election.
“I am tired of the same old politics and the same old politicians,” says Larochelle.
The Green candidate resides in Trail with her husband and lives near her daughter’s family.
Before her retirement in 2020, Larochelle worked with the provincial government, serving as a senior research advisor in Victoria.
According to her candidate’s biography, her professional expertise is backed by a strong academic foundation. She holds a master of arts in environment and management from Royal Roads University and a bachelor of natural resource sciences from Thompson Rivers University.
Her academic background spans environmental science, economics, statistics, cost-benefit analysis, and geographic information systems (GIS).
Her professional work focused heavily on data analytics and business intelligence tools like Power BI.
Notably, her innovation in applying business intelligence to the public service earned her a spot as a finalist in the Institute of Public Administration of Canada’s Policy Pitch competition.
Larochelle says she has channeled her expertise into local grassroots initiatives and much of her volunteer work centres on food security and sustainability.
Within her community, she has successfully advocated for urban hen allowances, organized the annual “Pumpkins for Farmers” delivery, and promoted water-conserving hügelkultur gardening techniques.
